You have to go to the right person. Chemical peels were done to a friend of mine who had pretty moderate acne with a lot of scars. It took about 10 peels to finally see a difference however. I am not fond of microdermabrasion, lots of people do it wrong. It actually can do more damage than good. If you have ALOT of acne scars (severe), I would suggest going to a dermatologist and seeing what your options are. They can do dermabrasion which hurts ALOT but thats mostly for really severe acne. Facials are not going to help with the scars but if you consistently go every month and put yourself on a good skin regimen you can certainly control the acne.Does Glycolic Facials %26amp; Peels help with acne scars?
Sorry, not really, no. I have spent thousands of dollars on facials, chemical peels, even laser treatments, and none seems to help very much. Som, maybe, but not a lot. This form of skin rejuvenation uses glycolic acid to remove damaged cells on the top layer of skin. Removal of damaged cells stimulates cell division that results in plumper, healthier young cells.

The Glycolic Peel procedure smoothes and softens the skin, diminishes fine lines, decreases acne outbreaks, evens out coloration and lightens hyperpigmented areas. What is glycolic peels?
run get a rash called the sancho,so then you lol ha haaa haaaa oh gosh that was so funney. Gee I forgot.
it's good it clear's your face %26amp; remove's your dead skin i am gona do it.
Actually, they can be done by a licensed Esthetician (and in some states a cosmetologist) providing that they are under a certain pH and percentage (also varies from state to state).

Glycolic acid is a fruit acid (glycol=sugar) and exfoliant that can be applied in treatments ranging from acne to anti-aging to correcting pigmentation problems. Advantages are that it works to stimulate cell turnover (bringing fresh, healthy cells up to the surface), and in the case of acne is also mildly antibacterial. It stimulates collagen production, increased your skin's ability to produce an retain moisture, and smooths skin's texture overall. Results don't come from just one though, its best to do a series of 6-12, depending on the condition you're treating.

It can be slightly irritating, peels do sting/itch/burn, and sometimes (especially with a stronger Dr. peel) you will be tender and peel for a few days after. You MUST wear sunscreen, as peels can photosensitize your skin, leaving you more succeptable to sunburn, hyperpigmentation, and general sun damage.

Make an appointment with a skin therapist for a consultation before deciding whether you want one. Its also best to begin a regimen containing glycolic acid at home to build up your skin's tolerance for it so you don't develop irritation from a peel. Again, get specific reccomendations from a skin therapist.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycolic_ac鈥?/a>
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). These are naturally occurring, non-toxic, organic acids. In high concentration (40-70%) they are useful as superficial peeling agents.

Glycolic acid peels are very useful for freshening and rejuvenation of the skin. Glycolic acid peels improve skin texture, sallowness, mottled pigmentation, fine lines and acne.

After preparing the facial skin with degreasing agents, the glycolic acid is applied to the face. It is left on for two minutes (occasionally longer) and then neutralized. So,Often referred to as ';lunchtime peels';.Glycolic acid causes a tolerable stinging sensation, which stops when neutralized. If the sensation becomes intolerable, it may be neutralized at any time.

Doctors use a higher concentration of acid; milder preparations are used in skincare salons and given to patients to use at home.Often referred to as ';lunchtime peels'; becoz it in few minutes ,it is ready.

Skin care after the peel

.No make-up, skin care products or sun exposure for 3 hours

.No retinoic acid or glycolic acid home products for 3 days

a)Cleanser:-

Cetaphil

Toleriane

b)Moisturizer:-

Toleriane

Hydranorme

Effidrate

c)Retinoic acid cream
Glycolic Peels

Glycolic peels, made from alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), are in the lightest category of chemical peels. Known as a ';lunchtime procedure,'; due to their short duration and rapid recovery time, AHA peels can be used to remove superficial wrinkles and dry patches of skin, as well as to treat sun damage and acne scars. Recent research has also indicated that glycolic peels can help patients with acne and rosacea, making the skin more responsive to other treatments and medications. The procedure may need to be repeated several times in order to achieve the best possible results.

The Procedure

Glycolic peels are done in a doctor's office as a quick, outpatient procedure. The doctor begins by cleansing the patient's skin. Once the face is prepared, the doctor applies the solution. After about ten to fifteen minutes, the peel is removed and the patient is free to go. No anesthesia is required during the peel, and no special ointments are necessary afterwards. Glycolic peels remove the outermost layer of skin, revealing the smoother skin beneath.

After a Glycolic Peel

Recovery time after a glycolic peel is relatively short. While deeper skin peels may take over a week to heal significantly, patients who undergo an AHA peel can resume public activities right away -- almost always by the following day. Some dryness, flakiness, and redness should be expected, as the top layer of skin falls away to reveal the smoother, healthier skin beneath.

=)jadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14511432148863098810noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3717109022567569482.post-65601747048017524442009-12-30T03:47:00.000-08:002009-12-30T03:47:01.352-08:00Do Glycolic peels make skin more dull & sensitive?Ok my skin is littlie bet sensitive, %26amp; before 3-4 year I got sun burn %26amp; some infection on my face due to this I have uneven pigmentation on my face, my face %26amp; my neck skin is visibly different, so do u think Glycolic peels will help me to clear my completion or it will make my skin more dark. The good, the bad, the ugly...?So I have developed a serious case of closed comedones(whiteheads) all over my face as an adult and went to see a dermatologist who although creepy, recommended Gycolic Peels even though my skin is sensitive. I never had cystic acne, only clogged pores. I went to a facialist 7 weeks ago and they told me that it would take 6 treatments before I see any visible results. After the first one I had a horrible reaction and was all scabbed up. There are now slightly dark spots on the previously scabbed areas. I decided to stick it out since they said that was normal. I have had 3 treatments so far and now am developing cystic acne (pimples) more than I ever had. They also said that is normal. Looking at myself, it looks worse than it ever did so I don't know what to think. I was ok with the idea it would take time to see results, but all I am seeing is it progressively getting worst. I have tried everything from proactiv, exposed, bliv, peter roth, even herbal supplements over the past 10 months or so. Since the dermatologist I went to was useless, I am wondering if my first instinct to these peels was right and if I should stop. Any advice on the matter will be greatly appreciated.Glycolic Peels for Whiteheads? The good, the bad, the ugly...?
I hate those pesky things. Especially for sensitive skin because peels are too harsh. I suggest instead taking anti-biotics suggested by your [new] dermatologist. Peels can have many different turn outs.....I Think Microdermabrasion is some of the best tratments of all in that it helps resurface your skin, but it doesn't necessarily take care of oil problems, so once again be sure to maintain a regular skin care regimen for yourself, ALWAYS MOISTURIZE and Astringent or Toner is never a bad idea.Which treatment is better for acne prone and blemished skin (am 24 yrs) - microdermabrasion or glycolic peels
Please go for Glycolic peels. Would it damage your skin or help it? On the bottle it says don't use more than 2 times a week, but just wondering.Glycolic acid peels every night?
You do realize what acid peels do, right? They peel off the top layer of skin. If you use them daily, you are going to peel off all your skin. They are safer than most other techniques, such as microdermabrasion which can leave scarring if you're not careful. For a nice facial pick me up - shiny renewed skin - glycolic peels are the way to gojadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14511432148863098810noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3717109022567569482.post-46534993674664376142009-12-30T03:43:00.001-08:002009-12-30T03:43:17.921-08:00Do Glycolic peels make skin more dull & sensitive?Ok my skin is littlie bet sensitive, %26amp; before 3-4 year I got sun burn %26amp; some infection on my face due to this I have uneven pigmentation on my face, my face %26amp; my neck skin is visibly different, so do u think Glycolic peels will help me to clear my completion or it will make my skin more dark.Do Glycolic peels make skin more dull %26amp; sensitive?
Glycolic will not make your skin more dull or dark, they actually make your skin look brighter and even. It can make your skin more sensitive, though. I suggest you talk to a dermatologist or esthetician or if you are willing try and at home kit because they only allow non professional kits to use glycolic at a 10% rate, which would ideal for your sensitive skin. It will take a bit longer to see results, but you don't want to risk burning your skin. Please follow the directions and if it starts to burn even a little (not tingle, this is normal) use water and a gentle cleanser and rinse it off. If this happens consult a professional and see what they can do for you.

Good Luck!jadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14511432148863098810noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3717109022567569482.post-79006779337496836982009-12-30T03:43:00.000-08:002009-12-30T03:43:01.669-08:00Where can I get Glycolic acid peels in chennai? Can someone help me out?I don't know anywhere in Chennai other then maybe a dermatologist. I do know that in the USA it is against the law to sell anything over a 15% glycolic over the counter. Most peels are around 30% to 50%. Also it depends on your age. I wouldn't recommend a glycolic peel to anyone under 25 to 30 years old. If you are younger then that just get a great minimal glycolic scrub and use that around three times a week.jadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14511432148863098810noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3717109022567569482.post-50334866245005846802009-12-30T03:42:00.001-08:002009-12-30T03:42:45.767-08:00I have acne scars in my face( not deep)..
