What is a 'Glycolic Peel'?

My dermatologist said it would be good if I get one. Will it help with my black-heads? Does it hurt? What is it like? What is a 'Glycolic Peel'?
To both aspects of your question the answer is yes, in varying degrees.

It will make a dramatic improvement on your complexion vs the blackheads.

A deep peel can sting and you HAVE to wear sunblock after you've had the procedure. You can ';look'; very red after but it subsides fairly soon. Again dependent upon the strength and composition of the ingredients used in the peel. The sting/discomfort is very minor when it is administered by a professional.

Have faith in your Dermatologist. They will have assessed your needs. It may take several peels to get where you are happy with the new/appearance of your skin and this does take time.

It's fine. Bit of a bore having it done personally. Hate the sunblocks since my skin is sensitive and they sting me besides being uuurrrrggh on the skin - quite greasy.

You and your Dr have many many combinations of chemical combinations that can be applied for different depths of peeling vs the sort of skin that you genetically have vs the main issues being taken care of.

Your skin could be sensitive for a few days as it's new cells that have been brought to the surface faster than usual. It may well feel tight and there could be a little surface peeling. But it doesn't last and you merely look as if you got a wee bit more

sun than you should have.

Speak to your Dermatologist about this too.

YOU HAVE TO FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT THEM.

Good luck! What is a 'Glycolic Peel'?
It's AHA treatment (alph-hydroxy acid). It's peel of the outer-most layer of your skin to reveal a clearer skin. Yes, it'll help in removal of blackheads but AHA is a rather strong acid so you have to go to a qualified dermatologist to do it. You may have redness after the treatment and you have to avoid sunlight for few days. The treatment does not give permanent result so you have to take good care of your skin in order to maintain.
