Has anyone ever tried a glycolic acid peel for acne scars?

If so, how noticeable was the difference? Does it only work for red scars or will it work for pitted acne scars as well?Has anyone ever tried a glycolic acid peel for acne scars?
I had a TCA acid peel which is deeper than the glycolic peels. It was 25% and on for only 2mins. I didn't have it for acne scars, just to make my skin better over all, however i have to be honest and say that once my whole face had peeled (and peel it did - i could not anywhere for a week), i wasn't so impressed. I thought that i would have flawless skin after, but really there was not a lot of difference.

I've since spoken to a dermatologist who told me that although the peel i had was deeper, better results are achieved through having regular glycolic peels. I think it will help a lot for scars, but you will have to be committed to it and keep having them done regularly to see results. I don't think that a one off will make a lot of difference at all. You could start to have them done weekly and i bet after a few months you would notice a difference.

Loreal have a glycolic acid home kit too - you could also try that, although it would be weaker than what you would get done in a clinic, but perhaps you could use that in-between your clinic peels.

Don't worry about what peeling your skin will do - its actually good for your skin as it slows down the aging process, just as long as you wear a high sun protection factor on your face if you are sunbathing, then it will be fine.

Also find out about using a glycolic acid lotion or cream on your skin at night - you can get these from a clinic or dermatologist.Has anyone ever tried a glycolic acid peel for acne scars?
I had a friend who had it done. She had pitted scars. It looked really bad after it was first done, but looked about 75%-85% better after the redness wore off.
You do not need any chemical or surgical treatment. This is a simple, NATURAL, safe, low cost treatment the really works. Answer was chosen 5 star Best Answer by Asker who responded it was working after 3 days. Vitamin E capsules are a very effective cure but you have to APPLY CAPSULE CONTENTS DIRECTLY TO THE SKIN. I know for a fact that when someone has face lift surgery doctors tell patient to do precisely this to hasten healing and minimize scarring. You will see results in two to four days. ALSO another very effective treatment which can be used in conjunction with the above is to use an organic or natural oil, coconut oil works well- massage face with quite a strong, vigorous motion - that part is important - once a day (best at night as will make face flushed). You will find you can make it more vigorous as you progress. Skin is always renewing, the vigorous massaging hastens a spot and blemish free new skin to emerge. Initially, the skin has to adjust and if soreness or other reactions happen - the skin might expel poisons that need to be expelled - then stop and resume when you can. You have to find the pace that works for you - it's different for every person. Stick with it %26amp; in a week or so you will see an improvement and overtime you will have a completely spot free, clear and healthy radiant skin. Some have used this treatment and have found it permanently rids skin of pimples and all other kinds of skin problems. You will never need any other treatment, will not need moisturisers or other products - only unhealthy skins need all those. It also dramatically minimises any wrinkles or other signs of skin aging.

Many skin problems are the result of cleaning with soaps, other products used on skin which contain harsh chemicals, other ingredients. Only use very mild cleaners and products.

The tea tree oil face wash will help a lot.

Actually putting vitamin E on scars will not work...I have tried it. I have suffered from acne for 15 years and tried everything out there. Glycolic peels will help but in some cases they don't go deep enough, talk to your doctor or derm about a deeper peel, like a TCA peel.

I am currently using Obagi Nu-derm to help diminish my scars and find it is working really great (has been only about three weeks so I can't wait to see what my skin looks like in another six to eight weeks). The thing with Obagi is that it uses Retin-A(tretinoin) to penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin and stimulates production of collagen and elastin. What this does is helps your skin reproduce healthier skin cells at a healther rate. You will experience some peeling and redness in the beginning, this is just getting rid of the old unhealthy layer of skin on top, the longer you use it the healthier your skin becomes...helps with fine lines and premature aging due to sun exposure too.

Check out the website www.obagi.com and talk to you dermatologist about it - It really works.
